Meet the Authors and Moderator
Ibi Zoboi holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her novel American Street was a National Book Award finalist and a New York Times Notable Book. She is also the author of Pride and My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich, a New York Times bestseller. She is the editor of the anthology Black Enough. Her most recent project is Punching the Air, a novel in verse co-written with Yusef Salaam of the Exonerated Five. Zoraida Córdova is the author of the award-winning Brooklyn Brujas series (Labyrinth Lost, Bruja Born, and Wayward Witch) and The Vicious Deep trilogy. Her short fiction has appeared in Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View, and Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women and Witchcraft. She is the co-editor of Vampires Never Get Old, a YA anthology forthcoming from Imprint/Macmillan in fall 2020. Her upcoming YA novels include Star Wars: A Crash of Fate and Incendiary, book one in the Hollow Crown duology (Disney/Hyperion 2020). Zoraida was born in Ecuador and raised in Queens, New York. When she isn’t working on her next novel, she’s planning her next adventure.
Mark Oshiro is the Hugo-nominated writer of the online Mark Does Stuff universe (Mark Reads and Mark Watches), where they analyze books and TV series. Their debut novel, Anger is a Gift won the 2019 Schneider Family Book Award and was nominated for a 2019 Lammy Award. Their forthcoming novel Each of Us a Desert will be published in September 2020.
